the 1990 300e i just purchased has what appears to be splatterd dried paint on the lower painted side molding,i am looking for something to use to remove it and not the factory paint!i have tried bug & tar and WD-40 with no luck! any suggestions?

As Bill said, try detailing Clay. Search the shop forum archives and/or my detailing FAQ for more specific info but I'd recommend Mother's or Clay Magic. The Meguiar's bar is too soft in my experience. If you go with Clay Magic don't use their spray as the lube medium. Go with Meguiar's #34/Quick Detailer or Wax Shop's Slick Stuff. If that doesn't do the trick let me know and we'll take it from there.

I have tried mother's clay,goof off,3m adhesive remover and not had great results!
any other idea's and products to try!
