updated seats in my w124
Hi all,
Just finished changing my seats out in my '89 300e. The donor seats were from a '95 e320 and they have the heated seat option. The rear seat and passenger seat were a direct swap. The drivers seat was a different story. I had to swap out the main board that the wire harness from the car plugs into. Has anybody successfully added heated seats to a w124 using the stock parts? Does anyone have a list of the parts needed? I cleaned the seats a bit using Lexol but it wasn't very effective in lifting out some of the dirt in the creases. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good leather cleaner and conditioner? Sam Here are some pics -

I bought some seats out of a late model 124, same color MB Tex but no worn seat bolsters plus the nice flat tex panels on the seat backs were a welcome change from the drooping nets in the old car.
The passengers side went in first without a hitch but when I went to connect the harness to the drivers seat I discovered the difference. In my haste I had a friend swap seat covers and put the upper cover (only) on my old seat. I wonder if the new seats have heaters in them? How can I tell without pulling the mess again? Oh well, I should have asked if the wiring panel could have been changed over like you did. How difficult was the main board swap? Maybe I'll try that when (if) I find some seats for my other '87 300D. I have a new console wood with the heater switches in it already. re: cleaner. I like 1Z products made in Germany. Their leather care is good they also they make a foam that gets down deep and doesn't harm the material (leather or synthetics) its for carpets and German seats (uhpholstery) but I've used it all over the place including the rear deck with great results. http://www.openroadmotoring.com/1zeinszett.html DDH Quote:

seat cleaner
hello, I am assuming the seats are leather. I have been using saddle soap for over 35 years. I do upholstery and convertible top replacement and repairs on all cars (mostly German). Lexol preserves and softens leather. For stubborn stains I use 409. Thanks, Peter
