trunk lid rust on w123 below badges
I have an '80 240D that is all original. The paint is perfect except for a couple of bubbled up places below the "diesel" and "240D" badges on the trunk lid. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there rubber grommets that go on the badges that need to be replaced? I am sure that whatever sealed the badges to the trunk lid needs to be repaired. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The badges are "pinned" against the trunk lid, and that would have accelerated the corrosion.
You might have to remove those badges and to tackle the rust before putting them back on. Most of the 123 owners would prefer to have it debadged.

How do you remove the badges? Do you simply pull off the plastic "washer" that appears to hold the pin in place? Can the badges be reinstalled easily?
