Any Diesel engine equipped vehicle for oil and gas field work in Canada must have installed a positive air shut off. In the event of combustible gas leaks within 100 feet of a source of gas vapors ie gas well all engines need the ability to shut down. Without choking a diesel of air it will continue to run. If the well emits sour gases one also must have the ability to ignite the gases in a controlled fashion. In this case fire is the safe condition rather than emit deadly gases.
