My guess it depends on how it is loading it.
If you are on loose wet pavement or grass (ahem) there should be not that much more of a load as compared to dry pavement sort-of 'extreme' conditions. The rear end may get pretty mad...but I think the transmission would only be unhappy if it got shocked, or your motor mounts if you were doing power brake take-offs...
One day I was trying to listen for a "under load" noise, checking boost, etc so I was powerbraking in gear and had the hood open
After you see the engine nearly turn itself upside down in the bay and push/pull on the motor mouts, you stop the power braking.
I just save that action now for showing up cars off lights, the taco time parking lot, and sometimes a power slide.
I have to agree though, these do feel comfortable sideways. I am sure the sidewalls hate the treatment however it feels a lot more solid than say, my 69bug haha
But the Mild Terrain tires on that make it grab a bit too much.

My advice, avoid power braking...lest you already have bad motor mounts...I cannot belive how much that engine moves!

(But taking off at 2100RPM in the boost curve, high tourque and horsepower is fun....hmmmm) :p

id put those old tires on a pair of junk rims just in case they fail...it would be a shame to ruin a good set of rims...cant wait for it to snow though As with the tranny, its the one they use in the E55, i doubt a couple of donuts is going to hurt it...besides, i dont do it all the time, but i do believe in having fun and i DO care about fuel mileage.

It's the same one used in the E55? Then it should be used to a lot more power. I don't think a little 606 can hurt it much.

Heres something I don't think anybody mentioned that was taught to me many years ago.

Most mercedes have open differentials, when both turn they turn at the ration of the ring and pinion. If ONE looses traction and one does not all power goes to the wheel with least traction.

Conversely du to action of the differential and spider gears the free wheel actually turns at twice the speed that both would turn together.

This is quite hard on the spider gears as they typically see minimal movement dooing their normal work.

Where the real danger comes in is actual tire speed as a result. This will spin a tire ay past its design limits and cause tire to become damaged or actually fail, and can do real damage when that happens.

I love to have as much fun as the next guy, and likey even more. But keep these thoughts in the back of your mind.

Thats why it isn't good to have to much fun! But I don't think once or twice a year will bother anything.

tranny

at least in the 208 clk and I believe the 210 E55, AMG did use a V-12 tranny in those cars to handle the extra torque

I can't speak to anything more recent
