Believe it or not, stock diesels can do donuts and brake torques...

So the other day, I was out of a ride in my 98 E300 with hattersaguy, when we came across an empty parking lot. Lets just say the curiosity was too great. So, with hattie taunting me, I proceed to turn "off" the asr. I slow down and start to drive in a tight circle, and then floor it. At first I didn't think it would break on dry pavement, but as we sped up, the tail started to come lose and as the nose comes around, we are enveloped in a cloud of white smoke. The smile widens and I start to wonder about doing a brake torque. So after i come to a stop, I hold the brake and ease the throttle to the floor...Nothing happens. So I give it one more shot, this time i let off the brake to let the rmps hit the sweat spot and reaply them and hear the familiar sound of tires screaming in protest. With about 5k miles torn from the life of my tires, I rejoice and continue on with my ride...

With some bystanders in complete aw, that a mercedes diesel did donuts and a brake torque of course...

I'm sorry...I am HTML illiterate

Oh god you went and hit my favorite subject
I posted this link a while back, but here it is again
http://brandon.importtransmissionexchange.com/offroadmathis.htm
The benz has also done pavement doughnuts (this is a 617 turbo)
I went to park in a parking spot one night at my favorite school lot and in the process of parking did a 360 before setting her right inbetween the lines.
Little did I know there was a eldery lady (the janitor) in her car in the dark that got my licence plate and persumeably called the police. I gave her a neighborly wave, checked my police scanner, and went out playing with my friend in the mud.
If you want to talk offroading, burnouts, gravel driving, etc. my car has done it. I usually tow a friend of mine out of the stuck spots. The trusty benz and non snappy throttle helps when trying to creep out.
Also, drove this car up a 35 degree muddly incline (maybe there is a picture?) with ease...no bottoming out.
I gained the respect of some fellow students and mercedes moved up the "offroad able car" list for them a bit.
The unhappy people?
The police
The neighbors (been followed for miles by one)
My rear transaxle
The grass

All in all, these cars are amazing, and FUN!
(nothing on that website is 'real' so don't get angry with me...I am just a teenager....remember?)

P.S. My front valence was broken when I got the car

When you say brake torque I guess you mean power braking. That is what we call it in this neck of the woods. When I do it half throttle in my SD it gets a little chirp when I let go of the brake.
A few friends and I went out for a couple of drinks the other night and I got a little carried away. Needless to say I was sweating the condition of my flex discs.
Anyway, full throttle will produce abundance of wheelspin on my SD at a stop.

"with hattie taunting me" oh yeah it took a lot of taunting! Don't forget the slides that was a lot of fun! Nice burn out too!

A turbo 606 can be hell on a set of tires!

Next I will get Joe to destroy super wide Dunlop SP 9000's that are getting a little old! Come on the S600 needs new tires! A little bleach and I bet the fire department gets called!

I can't wait to get my junk tires on the SDL, maybe this weekend...

Donuts

Ok, not my diesel, but my '01 CLK55 with stock little 245s on the rear and 376lb foot of torque will light up in a hearbeat.

It makes me jealous that E55 came stock with 275s in the rear - those at least have a chance of hooking up!

275's are nice they can just hook the S600 up! Will the traction control let you slide the CLK around?

traction control

With ESP off you can donut all day long. However, intersting thing about traction control on my CLK55 (208 body) - at the drag strip with ESP off I noticed that if the wheels are spinning in the rear, and the car is travling forward at more than like 10 or 15 miles and hour, traction control comes back on!

probably a "feature" from MB introduced by lawyers :p

Also with K&N drop in air filters my CLK55 gained like another 15lb ft of torque at the wheels, so it was probably getting close to 400lb ft at the crank

Ok I couldn't stand myself I took the SDL to Foran's parking lot today. It was raining pretty hard so I figured it would be better for the tires! There was a little riced out Subaru wagon their trying ever so hard to slide around. He thought I was a cop and came to a stop in the center of the lot. I saw it was empty and slide the rear end in an perfect half circle around him! Tons of smoke and tire's squeling! The SDL slid perfectly, at the end of the half circle I turned the wheel the other way snapped the rear end around and shot out of the lot! MB have to be one of the most controlable cars in a slide.

Ok I'm done until it snows I don't need to chew up $100 tires anymore!

Joe if the tire shop is scrapeing rubber out of the wheel wells we did well!

Remeber Mike R with his Firebird? Mike"uh I am getting unusual rear tire wear" Tire shop "I am scraping rubber out of the wheel well" Mike "but will you still honor the 40k warranty?"

Sounds fun

I've got a set of old Pirelli Cinturato P7s that are starting to crack and stuff. Might have to resort to drag-strip launches and burn them off
