w124 Passenger Door will not unlock problem...

Haven't taken the door apart yet but here is the problem.

First the key will not unlock the passenger door, key goes in and turns but it does n't catch on anything to unluck the door.

Second when the doors are unlocked the passenger can't unlock the door. The vacuum will not allow the passenger to lift the lever. The driver has to unlock the door, to get the lever up. This also means the passenger can't get out of the car, cause the door handle doesn't function when the door is locked.

Does this sound familiar? Has anyone had this problem and repaired it?

Thanks

Hmmm

Sounds like the linkage has come apart and jammed.
Without more data, it is only a guess.

yea, I got to take it apart...

I was hoping that this was a common problem, and that is something was broken I could order it and just take it apart once...

Instead now I will have to take it apart, figure out if something is broken, then wait for the part and drive around with the door all apart...

Although trouble with the locking systems IS common, this problem does NOT sound common.

My vote is some kind of linkage thing. You may be able to repair it without ordering new parts. The vacuum actuator may still be functioning. Be sure to study a diagram of this area, so you are all briefed when instpecting the area.
