3 day auction

I don't know about you guys, but this kinda annoys me. Why only 3 days, starting on Friday? Is it so you can't get someone out there to check it over, so you feel rushed, so you can't really get all the questions answered that you want to?

grrr....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4504053413&fromMakeTrack=true

You know the deal with dealers on e-bay. They are not the smartest bunch in the world. And, trying to get any useful and honest information regarding the vehicle is a waste of time.

In this specific case, you have an opportunity to get the vehicle at a reduced price, because the seller cannot get a sufficient number of bidders in only three days.

The downside of this, as you have pointed out, is that three days gives you very little time to get the vehicle evaluated. If you are able to hustle down there yourself, you could get quite a good deal.

Note that the transmission was just rebuilt, although, AAMCO was the repair facility.

What a cretin.

THIS CARS WILL EASILY EXCEED 100 MPH AND CAN GET 30MPG AT 75 MPH.ON TOP OF ALL THAT DIESEL FUEL IS USUALLY CHEAPER THAN REGULAR UNLEADED GAS.
Only an accountant from Arthur-Andersen working at ENRON could claim a 617-powered W126 would get 30mpg @ 75mph.

That's nothing. Some of them claim that a 617 powered 123 gets 35 mpg!
I e-mailed one of them and told him that the only way the vehicle will get 35 mpg is if it is rolling downhill.

His reply:

"Well, obviously you are not familiar with Mercedes-Benz diesels............."

Why do I bother?

Randy,

I just about lost it. "You f______ moron. I've owned three of these vehicles for more years than you have been in business and you are telling me that I'm not familiar with these vehicles?"

I must constantly remind myself that all of them, collectively, are just the most retarded people on the planet.

If they had the slightest shred of intelligence, they wouldn't be pushing metal for a living.

I saw a 123 300td on ebay with a 40 mpg claim

This car had the usual lingo---these cars go for 500k, etc.

But, in addition to a non-smoker car, did you notice the part about "no dogs" being inside the car? Now thats a new twist....

3 days?? Man, somethings up with that. They sure don't want anybody looking at it.

Cheers,

Bill

Too bad it's so far away. I'd go check the car out, bringing Bear the Great Pyrenees along with, and let him try out the back seat comfort.

If the salescreature got mad, I'd tell him that I'm looking at buying the car for HIM, and that he HAS to like it back there!! :p

If you think about it, how would this moron know if any dogs were ever in the car? Hell, most of them have never even driven the damn car and couldn't tell you how many doors it has or how many cylinders the engine has.

I really like the statement, "It runs out real well". F_______ morons.

Rant off.

"Do you smell something funny in this car?"

"Nope, I don't smell anything funny in this car. This is a perfectly clean car."

"Well, I think that I smell something funny in this car"

"Cannot smell funny. Car has been impeccably maintained by the previous owner"

"Well, I can tell you that something smells like a dog has been in this car"

"A dog?" "No way". "I know for a fact that there have been no dogs in this car."

"And how do you know this?" "Have any books and records for this car?"

"No, no books and records." "But the previous owner told me that there has never been any dogs in this car."

"Is that so"? "Then, can you kindly tell me why I smell what, can best be described as dog *****" in this car?"

"I don't know what that is, because I know that there has never been any dogs in this car". "So, I don't know what you are smelling, but it cannot be any dog, because there were never any dogs in this car".

And I am thinking to myself the entire time: "I am talking to a moron"

Brian & R Leo

Thanks for the afternoon chuckle, I have never gotten a car off ebay (except for a cheap parts car that I went and looked at) but I do notice allot of ridicules mileage claims and how many say 6 cylinders in their "79" 300D

I also like the ones with like new "leather" when it really is the MB Tex. Nothing wrong with either, but when these car dealers don't know the difference yet claim to have driven scores of these cars and "this one is the cleanist one we've ever seen" and like others have already said, "just broken in at 250k miles" it starts getting a bit deep.

I bought my car on ebay and the seller stated it had a 3.8 V-8. I called him and felt pretty comfortable with the car after all the pictures and talking to the guy so I bought it. Oh yea he did add a note at the bottem correcting himself within a few days of the auction beginning.
