Thank You R Leo!!
Randy,
I appreciate the time and effort you gave me in completing my first ever valve adjustment. With the exception of the whacked out lower nuts not wanting to take a wrench, you made it look like a piece of cake. Tell SWMBO thanks for letting me take your time away from her!! Hope you get that other honkin project completed!! Oh, loved the tour of the WVO assembly, can't wait to have one myself. Nice to meet Lars and Seth too! Let me know if there's any way I can return the favor.

No problem; I'm glad I could help you (and your SD) out.

Just to add to the thanks, I think I've had an exceptional jump in fuel mileage...
Typically I hit the "3/4" mark at about 100 miles....this time it was at around 150. By the time I hit the 1/2 mark I'm at around 200-220....but I'm at 260 and have yet to hit the 1/2. If this trend continues, I may actually hit 30 MPG.!! May have a little to do with the choice of fuel too, I don't know. Been filling at the Albertsons as they have diesel at 1.96 but the Exxon went to 1.91 the day before I dropped the car at your house, so I filled it....hmmmmm..... Either way, I'm fired up to see what the end result is!!

Kevin,
That sounds great but, you probably need to run several tanks and see what the cumulative average turns out to be. R

The added mileage is nice.... but the avoidance of a burnt valve is a very important consideration in going to the trouble of adjusting the valves at something close to the recommended interval.......
And if one finds that your clearances don't " hold" well.. the FSM suggests new cap and locking nut on your valves... they take a lot of punishment...and the threads can get pounded.... |
