My Grandfather and most of the old timers I talk to swear by this stuff. My grandfather adds 32oz to each tank everytime he fills the boat. Not a very concentrated mix because each tank holds 125 gallons. The people I talk to add it to everything, they also use it in the engine oil. It seems to work to, a lot of people have had good results with it.

You can get it at most any auto store.....like Autozone....or Pep Boys...and so on. I pay 2.99 for a 32oz bottle.

In my VW's I ran a combo of power service winter and ATF for ages, till someone convinced me ther are additives in ATF now that are not so hot for the injection pump. ATF was good stuff in the tank, and filling the filter on changes.
MMO is probibly just as good. Practicaly anything to increase the lubricity of the fuel is a Good Thing as long as it's pure and leaves no funky deposits.
I have many gallons in steel cans of MMO that are god only knows how old at the shop that were given to me years ago. Probibly antiques..

Hey Will, put some on your rear end and see if it sits any higher.

I believe that I can honestly say that I have never been in an auto parts store in the United States where Marvel Mystery Oil was not on sale.

fuel additive

in my truck, with the 7.3 liter IDI Navistar turbo engine, using either the PS diesel additive or the lucas additive nets a reduction in the high pressure injection pump noise. Try it, put additive in at the gas station, use earplugs, and after about 2 minutes, the pump gets quieter.

MM oil does the same thing. I use the shotgun approach: I rotate.

I can't tell if there is a difference in fuel mileage or power.

ATF work too, but I've always used it when I'm running dyed fuel. Truck seems off on power with ATF (1 quart/15 gal) in the tank. Like running a 2-stroke.

Red fuel is something like a 10,000 dollar fine. ATF could be a decent defense.

I'm going to bite. See how it tastes.

I will try running it in my tank and see if it makes my 300SDL ultra-smooth. My car is already relatively quiet, but it is not as quiet as I feel it should be: No combustion noise should be heard at all. Just a slightly muted purr.

Thumbs up Marvel Mystery oil is an old friend.

I added a quart to my fuel tank today, it killed the terrible odor from this mornings fuel.
Very odd, I seem to get a foul smelling batch of fuel every few months.
Nice blue color, normal odor filling tank, no power loss, just bad smell.
Here is the thread.
bad smelling fuel, Gag, gasp, choke

Maybe there's more about this Mystery oil stuff we're not being told about, dag nabit, maybe those little green men buzzing around our planet know what the Mystery is, and aren't gonna tell us!

Well, I tried the stuff in my 87 300D and oh boy, now it's too quiet! Got to have a little rythm, you know? Also seems like it has more power, but that's probably just in my head! Does it raise Cetane levels?? BB

I added about 5 ounces to a 3/4 full tank of diesel, didn't really deaden any noise or anything, at least i hope it helps lubricate things. You can add it to the engine oil right?

sounds like you can add it to anything

How about a Jack and Mystery Oil, or maybe a shot with MMO back, or how about filling up the washing machine and doing the rags from the garage?

I will get ya for that one. Saw a 350 sdl back home that has the same low rear end. Must be a common problem. Hers was worse than mine.
