actually I wasnt joking...

I think this would be a great "retro" race, I mean everybody has a car in their driveway today with 300 Hp, but how many people have one with 70 hp?
We could do it in the spring, hand out a few T shirts, drink a few beers, inhale diesel fumes and maybe invite the TV stations and Mercedes Benz of America...

We would have different classes based on mileage--
300,000, 600,00 and a Million plus!!
I am serious and if we do it, I will supply the T-shirts! (but not the beer, I drink rice-wine..)

Stationwagons and automatics get a handicap. This would make a great family event. (uhh maybe I had one beer too many at lunch..)
Wow that would be about as exciting as watching paint dry...But I guess an organized event would keep you from racing up and down side streets and getting tickets...check out your local chapter of SCCA. They sponsor autocross events which is the next best thing...

Did you know that the only sporting event that can be seen from the moon is a 240D race?

I don't know about a stock 240D race, but if they were to put something like a 3.5L V-8 in there then....

thanks for all your nice answers..

From all the sarcastic, nasty feedback i got,,sometimes I wonder.. last night i went home and faxed this guy a 14 page procedure..today he emails me asking if I have any "spare" brand new blower motors lying around..
Granted there are 99% class people on this forum, but I also can understand why Larry Bible quit, some of the people are just a__ who change their own oil and consider themselves master mechnics

Carrameow:

Personally I think all MB diesels are great, and there are huge numbers of 240Ds around which attest to their bulletproof reliability. Reliability is the virtue of that car.

I'm not even a mechanic, let alone a master mechanic. I'm just a humorist who loves diesels and can't resist any opportunity to inject a bit of comedy into life. I certainly didn't mean to offend.
