[QUOTE=Hatterasguy]We all make mistakes, I am great at snapping off bolts. It takes skills to snap a bolt the way I do.

one word hatty.....t-o-r-q-u-e-w-r-e-n-c-h. torkrench.

can't say as i never did that though. never did it on one of my cars. did it to a buds car back in 67-68. last bolt on the head cover on a 67 390 galaxie. he never re did the hole and it leaked oil for two years(he did the gasket work). he replaced it with a cutlass 350. why? i have no idea. maybe the airshocks finally did in his brain. he is looking for another car like it to restore. he only has 4 other project cars .

y'know i seem to be putting together a pretty good list of dumba$$ work. but it is always sumpin' new. never a repeat.

One in a million shot

Both me and my next door neighbor live below the road. The neighbors on the other side of the street live above the road slightly (not quite even). My neighbors have a gravel drive, one lane, and park a surburban there,in front of garage, and his Ford f-150 on side of driveway. Well, she was gone in the surburban and he was home. The neighbor kid psycho accross the street, who happens to drive a '81 300TD, got out and left the car in gear I guess. Anyway, it rolled down their driveway, accross the road, down the driveway of my neighbor, in between his truck and the front porch, and crashed through their garage door! (FYI, we live a good 75-100 yards off the road) It didn't even bust the tail lights out of the wagon! There was only about a foot on either side of the truck and front porch.
They still have plywood up on the front of their garage.
It tortures me to see that wagon drive away every day, as I drive off and wave at mine.

I was replacing an axle stub on my VW diesel pickup a couple years ago and had jack stands under the frame. I let the truck down after the swap and started her up to warm up. As I eased forward for a test drive I felt a slight hesitation and heard something start leaking. I had left ONE jack stand under the truck, and as it tipped, it ripped a hole in the fuel tank. I had 8 gallons of diesel on my driveway (which has since weaked the asphalt to the point that I can't jack in that spot anymore)... I was so mad at myself. I turned the truck off, walked away before I broke something in my anger, and listed it for sale the following week.

Us kids at the farm would run into the kitchen, turn the corner and grab the door of the refrigerator, open it while grabbing the counter/cabinet (metal cabinets). We would always get a big shock as the door opened. Years later, we found that the chasis of the refrigerator was shorted to the switch for the interior light. When the light went on, the chasis of the fridge was 110v!

Too funny!

You will have to keep in mind that I am a minister and what I am about to tell has nothing to do with cars but I thought of it when I read the above quote. When I was a teenager we were visiting a church and for some reason the microphone that the woman was using to sing through had an "electrical demon" and it shocked her one good time. She let out a yelp and most folks though that she was " in the Spirit" and the place came apart. I can't remember now how many got saved that night. It was quite an interesting service.

I was on ebay (buying things i dont even need for the car) and found this. I hope it is of use for you.

Years ago I cross threaded a spark plug in my SAAB GT850 (3cyl, two stroke) Plug blew out and hung from the plug wire and cap. Made a lot of noise too!

Sounds fair.....hoods are bulky items and aren't cheap to ship. That kept me from getting a true ZC hood for my honda.
