My new 300CD (warning: image heavy)

I liked the 240D that I built for my daughter so much, that I started looking for a diesel for me. I wanted an 80s 300CD. I found one and flew up to Maryland (actually flew to Wash. DC) and picked it up this weekend and drove it back to Savannah. This is the first time I've been on a plane since 1976, and the first time my 16yr old son has ever been on a plane. He was pretty scared. Actually, when the plane started taxing into position, I checked his heart and it was racing pretty fast. The only thing I was scared about was how my stomach felt a couple times . Anyway, was a great flight. The owner picked us up at Washington Dulles Int. and drove us up to Laurel, MD. New right away I had a gem and after looking it over and a test drive to confirm it I bought it on the spot. The only problems were a few cracks in the dash (common problem on the 123s) and a loose wire which I fixed this morning. Drove the son back to DC and we spent the day sight seeing. The White House, Lincoln memorial, Wash Mall, etc. Even went to an art museum (Corcoran Gallery). Drove home afterwards. Got pulled over in Virgina (my son did, and this is when I discovered the loose wire ) and North Caroline (me), both times for no tag. Showed my purchase papers and was on my way (BTW, we spent the whole day driving around in DC with all it's security and no tag, and never got pulled over ). Car drives like a dream, the turbo comes in nicely and pulls hard and fast.

Anyway, here's the pics I took this morning. Tag in the picture was freshly transfered over from a Olds Omega I gave to my oldest son. GA requires you to keep your tag now and transfer it to any new vehicle.

The dirt on the floormats is from the trip home. Otherwise, the mats and carpet are like new. The only thing I saw added (from original), were the CD player and the window tint.

BTW, the most beautiful young lady that I have ever seen was on my flight. Unfortunately, her seat was no where near mine and once we arrived at Dulles, I was a couple people short of catching the same tram/bus as her to the terminal.

Thank you!

Forgot a couple other non-original things. The A/C has a R-134a retrofit and there's an added alarm system, but both seemed to have been professionally done.

The wheels are turned in the picture, so I am assuming all pictures were taken near the same time, so I would just assume that it is turned as well, not upside down.

Looks nice...What year is it. You never did mention, at least I dont think.

I would love to have a 123 300CD but if they are in as nice shape as your new CD is, they are usually out of my affordable price range.

Did you get it for less than $3K? How many miles?

Nice car, and the best of luck to you, hope you have many good times with her.......

It's an 85 model. Yes, the steering wheel is fine, it was just that the wheels were turned. I found it on Ebay and paid $2500 for it. It has 249000 miles on it, but runs like a dream. I was very worried about buying through Ebay but everything turned out fine. I looked at another (smoke gray 1980 model) that I was interested in, but it was in California and that was a little too far. When I picked the car up, the A/C was not working. He stated that the blower motor was not working. A quick check confirmed freon in the system and a compressor clutch kicking in, just no blower motor. Was going to take a look at it but it started working on it's on (A/C blows cold) so I didn't. Should have though as this morning it was inoperable again. This weekend when I have time, I'm going to do a ton of maintnance items (even though I have a log book starting none is needed for a couple months) and tackle the blower motor. I believe it is probably just brushes. Today, while cruising about 45 through town, the speedo quit. Got home and checked it and the cable broke internally. I'll tackle that this weekend too. Overrall I am extremely please with my whole purchasing experience and the 300CD.
