Welcome to the has not club. There are a lot of us still patiently waiting. When you do get it you will be an elite member of the has club. Mean while we are still waiting for news of the MercedesShop badge. I think I'm still in for two of those.

I have high mileage badges for both cars. By the way, these are not some cheap pieces of tin. They are gold and blue and really hold up to the climate. No fading or rust etc. I can't say that for the MBCA badge I HAD on the car.

Sadly, the badges have been redesigned in the cost-consious manner of all new Mercedes products. "Cheap pieces of tin" pretty much says it all.

I ordered 250k and 500k badges for two different cars in July. They finally arrived last week. They're now two-piece units with separate mileage identifiers, chintzy shiny metal with blue plastic. The metal surface is irregular and rough with lots of plating blemishes. The blue plastic fill varies in depth and bleeds over onto the laurel wreath in a few spots. And the mounting studs, which are now incorporated into the back of the badge are neither parallel nor even the same length. To be fair, one of the badges is better than the other.

They don't resemble anything you would expect from Mercedes; rather, they look like the sort of blingy knock-offs you'd expect to see attached to a gold chain at a flea market.

I am unfathomably dissapointed.

I got the OLD style I guess last summer. Solid metal,no plastic. Very nice, I think. Bummer if they are cheaping out on the new ones. Took a few months to arrive though. Hold tight, they will come.

I just called a couple of weeks ago to complain that the high mileage application forms I requested had never arrived. I was told that the badges were being redesigned and that there was a backlog at the moment, so that might have been why my forms hadn't gone out yet. For the record, the lady I spoke to did send my forms out finally; I got them last week.

If you email Mercedes customer service they will email you back the form. No wait. Just for the badge, they told me it was a redesign last summer and it seems like I still got an old one.

The form is available either on the MBUSA website (PDF file) or at the dealership. The dealership must sign off on the form, so you're going to have go there anyway. Old badge, new badge . . . it's still a nice free item from MBUSA. There are also new milestones, a 750K KM level and breaking from the KM measure, a 1M Mile designation.

I got mine a couple of years ago, and they arrived very quickly....2 or 3 weeks.

That really sucks that they are changing the design to some cheesy plastic crap.

Thumbs up

Thanks for all the replies. I wonder ifit would do any good to inquire as to why they changed from a classic, quality, asthetic item to a plastic piece of junk? Sort of follows a pattern.Like thier cars, nothing is what it used to be. I'm so glad I have Ruby. 300Td 210,000 mi.

Don't be mistaken, the badges are not plastic and do not look cheap. They are however, different than the old ones. That has people pissed I guess. I installed mine yesterday and I think it looks great. Not quite as dated as the old ones. Are they the same quality?? No, because they aren't made by craftsmen in Stuttgart anymore. Probably mass produced in asia or india. Are they cheap plastic pieces of junk? No. I like mine..

This is the new badge. Got mine last week. If anyone doesn't want their "el cheapo" badges, just send 'em to me.
