Epa Snap

Most of the replacement type refrigerants are not EPA approved for moble A/C applications. They need to be to legally be put into an automoble A/C unit. My $.02

You are correct - The only way to know for sure is to use an analyzer. I suspect 99.9% of people that use non-standard stuff don't use the "correct" service port for the refrigerant. I have seen several conversions that DID use a sticker to identify the type of refrigerant.

That sounds like the well-informed opinion of an atmospheric scientist, derived from the rigors of the scientific method.

Not.

I hope that was tongue in cheek, otherwise, I am not going to comment.

Anyway, as to the refrigerant argument, why don't you all just be real men and roll down the window? My truck and my benz are the first vehicles I have ever had that had working air conditioners and I almost never use either. Note that I also lived in Oklahoma for 2.5 years. If you are used to the heat, it doesn't bother you. If I could just convince my wife...

My great grandfather walked all of his life or got a short ride. He never drove. Every day he would walk many miles to work (about 6-8). If you are used to walking, it doesn't bother you either. He did it till he was about 80 and died from a head injury. A few days before he was walking too.
