I took a look at my badges today, and they're starting to fade after less than a year. Did the old style badges do this as well, or is this a new style badge quirk?

My brother's car that I'm buying has a 250,000km badge on it. I'm not sure what style it is but its been on there for at least the year that he's owned it because a PO had it installed. It looks great to me, not faded at all. What's the difference in the styles?

The older ones were smaller and came in gold and silver I think, can someone post a pic? My new badge is holding up fine after some 8 months of driving, i just remember to clean it when im washing the car.
