Answer to question about the durability of new high mileage badges

I think this picture answers our questions about whether the new badges are of high quality or not. This is what happened to my 500,000km badge after I installed it on my 300D. I called MBUSA and told them about it, and a replacement badge is on the way. I'm glad about that, I just hope it doesn't do the same thing. The other two 200,000km badges are fine, just this one 500,000km one.

Well I've had mine on for over a month now and it is still as strong as can be. Yours must have been defective.

My 250K badge broke before I got it on the car. Here's my question: does MB intend for the installer to add two nuts for use at the ends of the bolts, or unscrew the nuts located at the badge end of the bolts and use them to tighten the "clamps?" The first badge's bolt snapped off at the base when I tried to loosen the nut.

Unscrew the nuts that are in front of the rubber washers.

I guess Mercedes had to redesign the badges to comply with the poor quality standards they have. Can't have a real quality badge, like they use to, on a poor quality car.

What is happening to Mercedes???? Is everything there touching, going to crap??

I have long suspected that the engineers were overthrown by the accounting and marketing departments in a bloodless coup sometime in the mid-'90s.

I suppose we should be grateful that they still deign to supply these wallyrigged badges at all. Mercedes is in the business of selling cars these days, not building them.

Mercedes bashers are beginning to get on my nerves, all sounding like they know it all. Since you do, why not go and build cars and let's see how well you do.

My goodness the badges are free, they come with a great presentation and Fex-X'd to you - did I mention they are free. Call GM and get one of these for you 20 year pick-up. Just recieved 2 of the new style badges yesterday. They have changed, little bigger and not gold but they are nice. Did I mention they are free

Update, about two weeks after I placed this thread online, I received a replacement badge. It installed without a hitch. MBUSA stood by their word, and they have a happy MB driver. How many car manufacturers will go above and beyond the call of duty instead of just saying "too bad?" I'm also impressed that it took two weeks instead of 4 to 6. I will post pictures of the two badges on my hood when I get time, I am considering painting the grey grille black as well, the badges will stand out more then.

I recently got my 250000 km badge and had no problems i was totally impressed with the presintation. ALthough i do like the older style the new suits me just fine although it does look very similar to my hood badge. But i think its great that some company is out there making customers happy.

The badges look pretty good, but I noticed that one of the studs was bent more inward than the other, and was shorter, just stupid little things like that that kinda detract from it, but it looks fine mounted on the grill.
