240D shift lever grease
I just got my replacement shift lever for my 240D ( 4 speed). What is the correct grease for the end of the lever. What is on the old lever looks like maybe wheel bearing grease ?

I would use what used to be called Chrysler type A chassis grease.... like would be sprayed on door hinges... seat tracks... window rolling mechanisms...hood hinges....door locks....door catches...
But any light white lithium or moly grease ought to be fine.... I can't find the shift lever in the manual... even though I know I have posted line drawings of its inner workings.... The manual ..on comparable stuff... says to use " MB Sliding Paste".... LOL Last edited by leathermang; 06-02-2005 at 10:57 PM.

while apart
while apart to change bushing i lubed it with wheel bearing grease. if not apart i just use motor oil. seems ok.
