I'm trying to quit smoking and she decided to start...

Hey all,

I told myself when I first joined this forum that I would try to limit my silly questions to a minimum, but here goes...

81 300SD, has been smoking a little since I got her a couple months ago, more than my roommates 91 350SDL, but after it was recommended by several people to put a bottle of "Redline" in the tank, tonight I noticed out on the highway that at a cruising speed (65 or so) I was smoking like I had romped on it to pass someone. A month ago or so a friend had been telling me to put a 1/2 qt of transmission fluid in the tank every 3-4 tanks so I finally did, and after I did, out on the road on about a 350 mile trip, she farted out a big cloud of black smoke and she had been running great. In fact, I got over 33 mpg on that trip. I am just wondering if I need to take her in to get checked out for the smoke or if it is just the Redline cleaning it out. Any experience or input would be great!

Thanks!
