I got another 190D 5 speed....

Well, I just put a down payment on a 1984 190D that was listed on ebay. The seller ended the auction and I will be picking it up tomorrow. I will have my little brother using this car for work..... it is rather nice looking and has been maintained like crazy. The last owner had it for 14 years and it was garaged during the winter.

The car did not sell for the price listed on ebay since I offered a bit more...
He sent me about 50 pics of the car and half of them were from underneath since he has a lift. I do not have the other pics hosted, only the ones from ebay are here.

Oh yes; I hope none of you guys were bidding on the car.

ZERO RUST
Here is the auction:

You can't have too many.

Beautiful car, Kamil. I had 2 in my garage for a while. Now I just have my 5-speed '87 190D 2.5T. I love it.

Yes, I was. I have every little bolt and part necessary in completing the conversion but I decided that I liked the w201 body style a whole lot more. I will probably be posting the whole conversion kit on ebay so someone from here can hopefully benefit.

The w201 is such much better than the w123 (my opinion). The 190 feels just as solid as the 240D but it is more modern and has a very quiet suspension.

W201 vs older body styles.

That's a big 10-4 good buddy on the ride and "modern-ness" of the W201 body style. It's light years ahead of the W116 300SD I previously owned. Although the 116 rode and felt good for it's era, the 201 is just a thoroughly more modern car.

I always found the 201 to be too small for me.. but I wouldn't mind a 5-speed diesel. Sounds like a fun car to drive.

190d

I"m jealous. I had one for 6 years and someone crashed into it and bent the frame. I bought mine at 217K miles, but impeccably maintained and I had very little work to do on it, including $1200 for the A/C, but it well worth it. Let me know if you ever want to sell it, or wanna trade for a 300D down the line, OK?

Whoops, I went and read your first post and saw that the lift belongs to the PO. You should still look into getting one though.

Thanks
David

Those 190's with 5-speeds are nice little screamers. I've driven an 86 190D 2.5 5-speed and it's very peppy for a nonturbo engine. I had no problems chirping the tires in 1st and 2nd and it came dang close to keeping up with an 85 300TD.

Did they ever put a turbo 2.5 behind the 5sp in 87?
Just curious, looking for the preverbial needle in a haystack...

It would also be sweet to find a 300CD if they exist in a W124 body style..the 2 doors look awesome.

Best of luck to you my friend.

You cannot know how much I desire a standard shift.

My wife has caught me making useless hand motions near the shift lever in normal traffic,so great is my desire for a stick.

The manual tranny makes these cars so much fun..... I cannot imagine driving a 190D with an automatic. These cars are pretty quick with the 5 speed and I'm usually passing all the traffic. The best part is the gas mileage these little beasts get....
