R-12 compressor Mineral oil
I have had some difficulty in buying R-12 mineral oil. Interdynamics has stopped making it. I bought the last qt. at Carquest (their brand, clear color) that had been sitting for at least 4 years; it should still be ok as it was sealed. The only thing available these days is Ester and Pag. I have had a qt. of Interdynamics mineral oil sitting around for years (red color) but decided not to use it because of age. Does anyone know if mineral oils are color coded?

I finally got some at NAPA but I previously asked at at least 6 places (including that same NAPA) and most of them looked at me like I was from Mars. I know I'm ugly, but these places sell auto parts. You would think it was easier, no?

I went to the local drug store and bought a bottle of mineral oil. It's all the same stuff. Then used a syringe to inject it into the valve.

Do NOT use drug store mineral oil!!!
It contains wax and impurities that will foul up your AC system. You need a wax free cold flow mineral oil. Danny

The problem is that every system is different... no two compressors are in exactly the same condition... and the cleanlyness of the tiny openings in the Txvalve.. etc... one might work forever and the next one have problems... all I know is that the MB FSM on AC specifies ' cold flowing oil' ... seems if the only criteria was that it be mineral oil it would have said that instead....
