Heads up! Someone needs to check this 300D out!

I was looking in the classifieds this morning, when I came upon this. I wish I had the money, but SOMEONE here needs to see this. 1985 5-speed Euro, special edition. I never even knew there was such a thing as a special edition, but I know those 5-speeds are a rarity. I have no affiliation with the seller, but I thought I'd pass it on. Oh, how I wish I had the money.

are you sure it has a manual 5 speed in it? The way the seller has embellished the description with 100th anniversary edition, you would think it was a 2000 model Harley Devidson Special Anniversary Edition. Amerikaners do things like that I haven't seen Mercedes do that.
Its possibly a non turbo Euro car, too! They didn't say turbodiesel !

That's the third Mercedes diesel that I have seen somebody put "Special Edition" in the description. To my knowledge there were no authorized and so named "Special Edition" Mercedes in the 70's or 80's, The first "Special Editions" I knew of it were in 1993 when they were offering highly optioned up 190's to get rid of inventory when the C-class was going to replace it. Then again in 1995 to get rid of the outgoing E-Class body, and again in 1999 to get rid of the S-Class inventory with the S500 "Grand Edition" when the new S-class was arriving.

BTW.....I think that is the same car that was on eBay a few weeks ago. Its a w124 body NON-turbo w/ 5 spd. And there is NOTHING "Special Edition" about it, its a typical low optioned (by american standards) w124.

the special edition thing is *so* late model ricecar. im not sure ive seen a special edition domestic car?

usually special edition cars come with the normal options and a special edition badge from the mcparts store. this badge should be gold for maximum special edition effect.

the door handles, grille emblem, name badge and antenna should also be gold for this special effect. i think they also come from the factory with a dent, right?

No TCC slip and taller gears than '84 and down, doesn't seem out of the question to me provided you stay under 70mph or so.
