Look at the photo....I linked that after your post ....not something you will be taking out and tweaking...I am certain of that...

Ahh. Well, I THINK I understand it a little better. So, that looks like it would have to be removed and disassembled if that whole thing got tweaked, doesn't it. Yikes. I just replaced my rack dampener bolt and it idles a little better. I'm going to turn it in a LITTLE more. Like a 1/4 turn. Very carefully. BTW, BHD it looks like you have the same little gray plastic box with drawers for small screws, cotter pins, washers etc. that I have. I got mine from JC Whitney, probably over 20 years ago

Thats not my photo but that of Brandon314159 from his thread that I linked the photo from.

THats why I cautioned against grinding down that lock nut on another thread recently...it would allow the bolt to go far enough in to potientally cause problems and why I said if it still ran fully seated to replace it with a new one.

yeah. I agree with that. The new pin sure has a stronger spring, less than 1mm of deflection of the new one provided more force than my old one fully compressed when I compared the 2.

thank you for those photos. A picture is worth a thousand words. I guess I'm going to go to the junk yard and try and find another fuel injector pump for my 116. I really feel I bent something by letting the pin housing go up against that part that you showed in the picture. I put about 3k miles on this car with using veg. oil. This car I purchased from a lady kept it for ten years and didn't drive it. It's been exposed to the elements all that time. I paid four hundred for it and took it on as a hobby. I have a 77 240d that I put 40k grease miles on it.And it still runs smooth. I also wanted this 300sd because of it having more power.

I've got a spare 617 turbo pump if you can't find one.
