still having transmission vacuum problems
I've been replacing any vac lines that are at all suspect of being a problem
but although it has improved, my tranny is still shifting a bit hard. I put the car on ramps and checked out the line to the modulator. Do I need to replace the modulator? Is it hard to get off? What do they cost? At least I stopped the A/C from coming out the windshield vents. Thanks. |

Have you tried adjusting the modulator yet?

I never even saw that mentioned when I did a search?
Do you think that's it? What do I do? Loosen a bolt and turn it a little? |

I believe there are some other treads on modulator adjustments, but I found this in the DIY sticky:

Ahhh...
I didn't think the 123 had the same system. I looked through the sticky and found similar info. I didn't see that T Handle on my modulator? I'll get back under the car tomorrow. I'm gonna go try some more searches, with alternate 'wordings'. Gracias |

Also try pulling vacuum on the modulator and see if it holds. If it holds for several minutes it is probably fine. If it drops off quickly or you can't pull any vac at all it is bad. Adjusting it may also fix shifting problems if you don't have any other vac related issues.
I don't know if this goes for 126's but if you replace the modulator make sure you have the right plasitc pin that goes with it. I went through this (as have many others) on my 123. I had to switch from one that looked like this -------l=- to one that looked like this ------==. It made a world of difference.

Don't have a Mityvac yet.
Reading it about it in archives is kinda scary, seeing that you might also need a boost vacuum gauge. I guess there's no end to it all? I moved my T handle one notch counterclockwise. It helped a little. I'll have to try another notch. I thought I broke it, when the T handle came out... but I guess it's supposed to be like that? ( I hope ) It seemed to be shifting late before, unless I let up on the throttle... but now it shifts sooner, without lifting my foot.\ I thought that was supposed to be a Bowden cable adjustment? By the way, is this the place to adjust the Bowden cable? I was gonna adjust it... but now I guess I don't need to? The third shift still seems to be late though, unless it's just supposed to rev that high? I also realized that my car doesn't have that flat cover under my engine. Looks real clean under there, otherwise. |

Yep that looks like your bowden cable. Looks just like mine only a different orientaion and location.
That little T pin will fall out, but it's not broken, just don't loose it. You might think about investing in a mity vac. I got mine at harbor frieght, the link below is what I got and it has been an invaluable tool. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=39522 Goog luck Andrew
