What is this part called?
I've been working on my brothers 190D trying to solve a shut off problem and I have found the source. The pic below, what is the circled item? It has a pretty large leak inside of it. Can someone tell me it is and what it does? And maybe a part number. I know it works with the EGR, but I am unsure of anything else.
Thanks again and Happy New Year!!

Randy, I'm just taking a guess, because I don't have any intimate knowledge of that engine, but, it looks like a derivative of the blue vacuum amplifiers that are found on the '85-'87 vehicles for regulation of transmission vacuum.
I'm sure someone who has that vehicle can confirm this. |

part number....
Thanks for the replys, I didn't even think to look for a PN on the part itself, this is what I found: 123-300-05-33. I tired the number here but nothing worked, I tried with the spaces and with out.
About the transmission vacuum part, I don't know if its that or not. Mine has 4 ports, 2 top and 2 bottom, they are labled. TOP: 1, VAC 2, EGR BOTTOM: 1, Atm, 2, VCV. Also, there are 2 valve looking items beside the main part, and they have hoses (and eletrical plugs, but the main part has no elc. conections) that also run into the main part and else where (hoses go into conduit, and can't trace) So maybe this will help. Thanks Randy

i suspect
that it might not be an original part to that car since it starts with 123. it would be a part for a 123 chassis car, i think. perhaps it has been adapted.

Part Numbers
The part may very well be original. Just because a part number begins with another chassis number does not mean that it can not work on your car. If the part number starts with 123, I have been instructed that is the chassis that the part originated on, however, thats not always correct because it could have been converted to a new number when the part was modified for that chassis ect...
Its best to make contact with Mercedes Benz to see of that part is original and also to see if the part has changed numbers now that it is 20 years later. Hope this helps. Ryan

Yep just start looking around a w126 body 300SD. The coolant expansion tank starts with a w116 part number. Not too suprising...lots of similaries
