What would entice you to get rid of your diesel and drive a gas burner?

I want to see how many hard core diesel ites are here. What life situation would prompt you to get rid of your diesel and drive a gas burner.

For me I hate gas burners so much, it would have to be a real desperate situation for me to dump the Mercedes diesel in favor of a gas burner.

hmm.. what would it take to get me out of my diesel..

1) an offer to buy it from me- at a decent price, mind you heh heh no pms offering 500 bux please

2) fuel prices and consumption higher than those of my gasoline car(sadly, this is reality)

3) a 230ce for sale locally.

4) a 280ce for sale locally.

5) a 560sec in black on off-black sitting in my driveway and a gasoline credit card with unlimited funds available to it in my wallet.

i have to agree with the folks that say the engine isnt what is keeping me in the 240. its the feelings of security, of reliability and even though i am only a minorly skilled shadetree mechanic; the feelings of self sufficience.

a mechanically fuel injected 4 cylinder benz would offer comparable performance to the 240 and would be quieter, smoother and a bit more friendly to guests. boy would i like one! a metallic chocolate coupe with palomino interior and a manual sliding roof.

i would call him das Scheißeauto

Can't think of anything.

I will get a gasser though, because I want an SL too.

Do the letters A M G tempt anyone?
or S L ?
remember- one out of three is 33%.

I don't feel loyalty to a particular car or engine because of the particular fossil fuel it uses . . . in general I buy a car because it's in good shape, has a little character and quality and is a joy to drive. Oh, and has a manual transmission, too.

A crappy diesel is just as bad as a crappy gasser, but it will probably keep running longer.

Given the signatures on this site, I think that most, if not all of you have yet to experience what a modern diesel is capable of. Down right scary power folks. Even in the form of a 3/4 or 1 ton truck that weighs in excess of 7k.

I have my preferences, and they are not of the blue oval persuasion, but none the less, all three when chip'd or reprogrammed can down right scare the bu-jesus out of you.

400hp and 800+ ft pounds of tq is some serious poopie power people.

My current other diesels have nearly four times the HP as your chipped Isuzu and the next two more than 6 times. Motor and Turbine Union aka MTU , Mercedes off road division produces diesels with 150 HP per cylinder. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
