the motor didn't want to shut off...
Last night I fired up the benz, 81 300 D, Just to move it and when I shut the key off nothing happened. I mean it kept running. Since I've got fuel leaks and thus runs kinda crappy, I was able to put it in gear and it died.
Is there a choke/kill apparatus other then just shutting off the key? I'm having problems with the charging system at the moment. Might the two issues be somehow interelated? Wayne |

For the "stop" lever look under the hood above the injector pump...Your shut off problem has nothing to do with your charging system.
Do a search on vacuum shut off switch. The brown vac line goes to it on the rear of the injector pump. Apply vac to it (suck on it) and if the engine stops you found the switch but thats NOT the problem. IF however you put suction on this switch and the car keeps running you found the problem. Do a search, lots written about that switch. Anyway, thats where I would start.
