Pic - boy did I push the life of my front pads
This is really an extra pic from this thread:
Pics New Front Brakes, bearing play & pedal feel question I was dumping pics out of my camera and found this one. Could I have any less pad!!!! Like I said in my other post - not sensors were installed by the last mechanic so I didn't realize how bad I was pushing my luck. Check out the travel of the piston on the top!

Yes, looks like there is also not a whole lot of the pad's backing plate left within its retaining part of the caliper before it slides out.
Unfortunately, I can say that I have seen worse.

Oh, you got plenty of material left on the outboard pad. Time to reinstall that pad and get another 10K out of it. We're a cheap bunch, you know.

You're caliper is not working right. A fixed caliper should wear evenly on both pads.

I was at my local MB shop where I saw some cheap bastard get use out of his rotor to the end. You know how you have 2 sides of the rotor and ribs holding it together? This guy had one side and a few ribs. Still wondered if he had any use left.
Also someone had gone metal rivits to rotor and wanted them to just replace the pad when the groove was obvious and if you machined the rotor to get rid of it, it would definately fall under thickness. I think the shop made him sign a waiver.
