Personally, I can't wait till we see $5-$6 per gallon. Owwww so much more room on the highway for me and my WVO ride

I just secured 2 more sites for WVO last night. The 3 should give me enough for 15 gallons a week.

I wouldn't say I'm happy, but I'm pleased to see gas creeping closer to diesel. Yes, it changes things for those of us still using fossils fuels, but it's all relative and it's nice to know that everyone (not just dieselers) is in the same boat.

It's also going to get some people off the street and change auto buying habits. The avg Joe isn't going to be able to afford to drive anything that isn't small and practical, which is fine with me. I'm not into eliminating SUVs and all gas guzzlers ... if you can afford it, fine. They wouldn't be a problem if only a few rich guys had them.

And there's a really, really evil part of me that enjoys watching people whine and cry about fuel prices as though they're being horrendously oppressed. It's fun to see who or what they will try to blame next. Dellusions of entitlement are hilarious ...

I also have an evil part to me that likes to watch people complain about it.

If I can get a deal on Biodiesel right from the manufacturer near us soon I am going to laugh even more as people can't afford to drive. Last night I went for a short drive and the ENTIRE 4 lane road was empty half the way there! No cars behind me! This was at 7:40pm! Usually that road is busy as heck, I was amazed, and cruzed happily along in the open road-scape.

does the evil part of you pay for your day to day stuff or does someone else pay for it? Cause the way I see it, things go up in price when gas or diesel goes up too.

i agree with aklim. high crude prices are not just affecting gas prices, but hurting small businesses and raising the cost for just about everything. it will hurt us in some ways, but not via the gas pump

If it just were contained to gas, I could say "I don't care" since I am not in the hospitality bussiness but it will hit on all fronts. When I go to work, I will want more money to pay for the extra cost. When I ship things out of this country, there is a fuel surcharge. What does that mean to my customers? Well, they pay more for the product. So, if they take their bussiness elsewhere who hurts? We all do. In the last 2 weeks it costs me $150 more to ship a 40 foot container out of country. 75 for freight and 75 for fuel surcharge. They buy less, we sell less. We sell less and well.....

I just thought it was funny when the news showed a guy in CA crying that he paid $87 for a tank of gas at $4.05/g. 21 gallons, what do you bet he was driving a V8 SUV?

I paid $96.40 for 33.7 gallions of B20 last weekend at $2.85/g (Yes, my little 240D can hold that much). It went up to $3.05 yesterday. Saved $6.40.

Or a v6 99 E300 Turbodiesel maybe? I fill my tank to 23 gals when it comes to fill time. I run it to almost dry

Not quite sure what this is implying. I pay for my day-to-day stuff, although I do get free pens and notepads from the workplace.

By the by, I make A LOT less than most of the people who frazzled at the pumps. To be fair, I do realize that others have bigger things to worry about than I do ... I have no family (i.e., no kids ... I do have parents and sisters, but they take care of themselves ... ), no pets, I rent a small townhouse that doesn't need a lot of utilities, and, to be totally frank, no social life. I save most of the money I make and what I spend is pretty much on food and fuel. So I can understand that for some people, the fuel price increase is a bigger problem than it is for me. My problem is not so much that they're worried about it (we all should be) but they're manner of reacting to it (blaming the pres, berating the oil companies, glaring at SUV drivers, and so on).

I do have concerns about the oil crisis and all the many things it affects, and I do take it very seriously. I'm not some rich snob laughing at the poor folk who can't afford fuel. I just find it amusing to listen to the "mob mentality" that occurs ... blame-slinging, wails of injustice and things of this manner. That said, I also know that it isn't REALLY funny ... guess I was being a little facetious in my first post?

Unless you are going to change your diet to notepads and pens, you too will get it in the end. Like I said, if there is a fuel surcharge to send stuff around, I have to pay more. I pay more, I sell it for more. I sell it for more and you pay for more. True, I sell animal feed but that is what the farmers use to feed their cows and pigs. They pay more for feed and they go out of bussiness or charge more. Same with plant farmers. So, if you eat more than notepads and pens, well, the higher charge will hit you too at the grocery store. I'm flattered that you think I'm so dumb as to have not figured that out on my own.

Obviously you concluded from my post that I don't think the gas crisis is a problem. That isn't the case, and I've made that more than clear on several occasions. I love how all it takes is one totally jocular comment to have people form an entire schema of who I am ...

Anyway, now that I've read that second sentence, I'll respond to it: I'm absolutely aware of it. Anything thats delivered via truck (or plane) will go up in price, not to mention all the many products that are made w/ petr products like plastic, laundry detergent and paint.

So let me clarify this: I DO NOT THINK THE OIL CRISIS IS FUNNY. I was only making light of one aspect of it: the way people talk about and react to it. I tend to assume that everyone listening to me is going to know what my stance is and what my knowledge level is in regards to the issue ... I do it all the time ... which is my mistake. With all the posters on here, no one is going to remember everything I have said in the past (which would reveal the fact that I have more depth on the oil issue than my post in this thread would suggest).

Did that make any sense, to anybody?

As said ... I'm losing it ...

Good luck buddy ... you're talking to someone who reuses paper towels 25 times and washes out Ziploc baggies ... that's how willing I am to give out money.
