I know its been almost 2 months, but today I did a compression test!!!!
results: first test
cyl 1-100 lbs
2-200 "
3-150 "
4-200"

second test--oil added to cylinder, enough to fill prechamber.
cyl 1-300 lbs
2-350 "
3-500 ?
4-350 lbs
I did damage one "noozle reed" in the procces, washer type thingy that fits under fuel injector , looks like a washer but aint.
would like to try and start, gonna check parts to see if noozle reeds are getable.

also, before considering comp test I was gonna adjust valves, after removing cover I ,well is there is or is not a way to adjust??
not to much info on 601 motor.

more to add but dont want to ramble, many ????????s

thanks Mark

well, the first test is so low that it wont start that way for sure. about 220 tested cold is the minimum for starter starting.

the problem with a worn diesel is starting from cold. after you get it started it will run forever usually.

the cylinders may have dried out from sitting. this could be a factor of your type of oil and or washing all of the oil off the cyliders earlier when trying unsuccessfully to start.

so if you have a good starter and good injectors, and fuel supply and the glow plugs are working it may turn out to be ok once you get it up and running and get some clean oil in it etc.

good luck
