I can't feel the potholes, so it doesn't hurt.

It makes me feel that my automobile choice is the right one for me, I wouldn't rather be in any other car.

Plus when you have a car for 10 years, you feel like it's like an old shoe, you are very comfortable knowing its limitations, and just what it will do, so you can pay attention to road conditions and the other drivers and traffic conditions.

It's a good feeling. The car has presence, too. Others might go around corners faster or play music better, but this one works really well for me all things considered.

I feel safe and superior to all those gas burning, SUV riding, $400 dollar a month car paying, high insurance, check engine light, air bag toting, peeps!

I enjoy driving Mercedes.

When I hit a pot hole? In which one? In any of my W126's it rattles the car like crazy, stiff sobs. In a more modern MB like a W220 I don't notice.

Like I could hit a toyota and wonder if I should wash m car.
I burn cut WVO and still get 25-30 MPG in a slat driven '79 300 SD that ride like a fat girl and I grin.
While in the '83 380 SEL I grin alot. Chirps at take off and again at 45 mph. Wish the '79 had a sunroof!
The solid road feel of vintage MB is addicting.

Well....that depends on which I am driving....

The 1999 E300 makes want to go out and see what teen drivers I can show up in there testosterone transporters.

The 1985 300D makes want to go out on a not so straight road for a brisk evening drive. The Queen song "I'm in love with My Car" says it all. I don't know what it is about this car, but I just gets under my skin and I have to drive it.

The 1981 300D…..I am not yet sure, but I certainly enjoy it as well.

Only my older stepson who is learning to drive understands my passion for my 1985 300D as it is the car that he is driving for most of his driving time. He also likes the 1981 300D very much as well. I think that the W123 bug has bitten him pretty well. He is getting pretty good at identifying W115, W123, W124, W126, W140, and a few other Merc sedan chassis when he sees them on the road. And around where we live there are very few examples. He has his heart set on owning an SL someday. 'sniff' I am so proud of him.

Heh

Thats my banner...

I simply LOVE driving the W115. All my friends say its like being transported to a different era, Dobbie Brothers playing, the lit instrument and accessory panels that have warm lighting instead of the intrusive neon colors..the way the light bounces of the edges of the star..

Sure my car has issues..it's thirty years old. But cruising at 65 MPH (I can go faster, but 65-70 IMO is the ideal range for this 80HP engine where noise doesn't start to be intrusive), ice cold AC...hell I feel like the man.

Especially the looks from old timers driving newer Benzes...or of girls sitting with the BF in some touted up Honda Civic..

Yes, I guess I feel like an elitist in the Benz sometimes.

Form an elitist side I do enjoy looking down on Lexus, especialy the rebadged Camry they pass off as one.

Also its always fun to mess with little 3 series BMW's. Some are quite gutless, if they have NJ plates they usualy drive like jerks. I enjoy screwing with them almost to much. All in all BMW makes a nice rival car to mess with. When I get a faster MB I'll hunt for larger pray, like M3's.

MB vs BMW, is there any doubt as to who will win??
