Non working Cruise Control
Hi again...
How can I test for either a bad CC amp or servo? I get no engaging at all. All fuses look good, and I cannot seem to find the CC amp. Where exactly is it? '82 300D Thanks!

I know that the servo is on the drivers side with the linkage. I thought the CC amp was some where inside the car. I'll check on the passenger side of the engine when I get home.
Thanks!

The cruise amp or module is a ~4" x 6" box on the firewall in the cabin, in front of the brake pedal arm. Soldering the connections on the pcb can do wonders. Here is good reading and pics...
Yes, we have cruise..

Lemme get the link to this site, it's easy to test the servo real quick to see if that's the issue. I am still unsure if a servo that has a working solenoid and the internal motor that spins could be at fault...
I believe it's usually the damned amplifier.

That link would be great! I also just discovered a so called "new" engine mount on the drivers side has torn rubber.
Thanks for all the help guys!

Man, I copped out on the cruise control DIY repair. I pulled the amp from under the driver's side dash, unbolted the servo unit, boxed it up, sent it to General Devlopment Labs for testing and repair. It cost almost 300 bucks, but I now have a perfect cruise control unit, smooth as silk....with a warranty. I spent about 1/4 of my life running on cruise control, it was well worth it to me.

I too recommend General Development Labs. I have 2 sets (CC module and actuator) back there now for testing and repair as necessary. I've tried resoldering the modules with no results. There are components that go bad in these things and I want results that I can trust, so thats my reasoning for using the "experts" there.
