1991 350SD Oil Pressure high at start up - is that normal?

I have noticed that my oil pressure is pegged out at 3 when I initially start the car - is that normal? Once the car warms up a little, the oil pressure goes to normal and fluctuates normally with acceleration, etc. It is always good, though - never ever drops below 1 even when the engine is really hot, under normal conditions it doesn't drop below 1.5.

Welcome to Mercedes ownership. Yes the oil pressure behavior is completely normal and proper.

when your driving do at least glace at your guages once and a while and take note of oil pressure, if it drops to 1.5 or none while driving i would suspect something is ammiss.. i know when i let off the go pedal and brake the oil pressure goes down to around 1.5 which is the pressure at idle, but if your going 65 mph and the guage reads 1.5 bar then youve got issues

Especialy since the turbo will be on boost, and the piston oil cooling jets fully open at 2bar.
