brake support bushings?

Hello,
I have been searching for threads refering to vibrations of the steering wheel at high speeds and came across threads refereing to "brake support bushings". Is this the correct? I have an 87 300SDL and would like to correct the vibration problem. Anyone know the correct terminology for this part and where is a good source?
Thanks for your time.
A

if you are getting vibs in the wheel bushings wont help. you have a tire imbalance or out of round or a badly warped disc, imho.

i have not heard of brake bushings either. there might be some in a floating caliper brake design, is yours that?

The brake support bushing would give you a clunking sound when braking and maybe accelerating if it's bad.

Vibrations could be cause by unballanced tires(could have thrown a weight). Too tight lug bolts, worn rotors....

It could also be caused by worn suspension parts like ball joints, tie rods, etc...

I would start with the tires. Then check and replace all worn suspension parts then go to a dealer for an alignment.

Aqua,

Jack up car and rotate the tires on the spindles/axles. Look for any out of round conditions.

If you can't find any thing wrong in the above test, reverse the tires from front to rear and notice if there is a difference when driving.

Usually its the tires when a vibration occurs.

I never heard of a brake support bushing.

Danny,

So MBs don't have guide rods or brake support bushings because MBs have the caliper with a piston on both sides of the rotor.
