Is there a way to get the park pawl to disengage manually? (as in crawling under car). I guess here diagrams would help again.

Ok thanks. Since it's my brother handling the problem and he's got less time than me, I think barring a miracle idea that this will be heading to the Indy mechanic for a diagnosis and I sure hope it's something stupid otherwise might be figuring out what car is worth in parts. Another $1K in repairs does not interest me.
