"The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten!"

I love my Benz and have had one for nearly six years without really major repairs, at almost 300k. But, I know that some repairs cost more. Oh, well, quality costs.

However, three alternators is out of line. Confront them.

I totally understand where you are coming from. My 1992 300D 2.5 (285,000 miles), black with grey interior is the exact way.

This last year, every piece of the car was replaced, I have spend over $10,000 out of pocket on it, and the insuance company spent about the same on it.

Name a part, I can almost guarentee its been replaced. LOL, yeah you save a little money from the fuel economy, but compared to these new gasoline cars, they are pushing almost the same as us.

its kind of hard to like your car when you have spent more money on it than its worth, u know?

Oh well, I can go on and on, but i dont feel like getting upset.

Yikes!!!....sorry to hear that about your 300D.....I had a 1992 300D 2.5 Turbo that I sold at 208K....one of the best cars I ever owned......are you the original owner?....was the car well cared for?
I think the only thing I replaced on my car was a vacuum pump the whole time I owned it

I think a number of us are diesel freaks and M-B lovers... that's why we have/want these cars.

I had a 190D 2.5T, it's been sold, and i'm getting another one. Why? Because I liked the first one so much. When I get the new one, it will make my 3rd diesel car in 3 years.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I suspect that if your alternator and glow plugs keep failing, there's something that the dealership either isn't doing right, or isn't noticing. I'd take it to an independent Mercedes specialist and see what they say about your problems.

Good Luck.
