As Larry stated, all the 300Ds for the US market had AC. I drove (didn't own) a new 1978 300D 4 speed in the Netherlands and it did not have AC. The average temp. there is 50 fahrenheit. Although they just had the warmest summer in the last 300 years.
They are still having weather in the 70's, which is really warm for this time of year.
