I have only been into the MB Diesels for about 8 months, but I did not know there were 85-300d models with no turbo.

Well, away because I thought the 5-cyl was a 2.5 Liter. My mistake. I'm still learning MBs. I could tell you anything you want to know about VWs though.

the 2.5 fiver was offered in the newer 124 cars and also the 190s.

a na five cylinder will be good off the line. not at all like a 240 automatic, which no matter how you slice it feels like something serious is amiss when you try to take off!

2004 Passat tdi has 134hp and 247lbs of torque, 50% more torque than the standard gas engine in the passat.

Yes it is for a euro model. Take a look at the bumpers, notice how they are shorter then your average US model 300D. Also turbos on 300D was a US thing since the US demands for more power, while in germany they just demand better economy and reliability.

So therefore that is a true german 300D, while ours is an "americanized" german 300D, not to say its bad i like the turbo
