Your overboost protection valve is not in the circuit to the IP. That guys job is to vent boost presure away from the IP if the boost gets too high. It is in hte middle of the line between the manifold and the ALDA on the IP.

Typical issue, probably caked up internally with soot and was bypassed. I did it on my SDL until I got a new one.
I'd just get a few used ones from a parts yard

Take it off and clean it out before you put it back on. I think I used something like WD40 to clean it out. Watch out though, it will shoot out all kinds of black junk. Kind of like carbon powder. Wrap the whole thing up in a rag before you shoot the WD40 to it.

Can you tap into the line going to this valve to feed a boost gauge?

I think that would be a good spot for a tap.
I've been doing some reading over the last few days and I figured out what the thread starter was getting at. HE REMOVED HIS ALDA! There is a 9-10 page thread on this. I think he was trying to show off that his was now ALDA free. Am I right? How is it going? I removed mine last night. It will be a few days before I have the car put back together. Maybe longer if I keep breaking stuff... (I broke a linkage end connector last night...) -Jim

Yea, well, I try to be modest...
But seriously, the photo doesn't really show where the ALDA used to be. It just shows the abandoned OB Protection Solenoid. -Jim

Neat, I just replaced the right-angle hose fitting on the bottom of that piece with a bit of standard straight hose (it had cracked completely off), got my power back! Maybe I'll flush it when I have a chance, see if I get more POWAH...
