Boost controller install
OK this might be a stupid question. but how do i install the boost controller i just got?
this is the controller i got off ebay: it came with no instructions. I was thinking it would work by splicing it into the line that goes between the intake housing and the waste gate. but it came with the T shown in the picture. the T alows air to move from the pink nipple to the nibble the arrow is pointing at. the other nipple on the T doesn't seem to pass any air, at least not with me blowing on it. I found this link on a google search http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wolfpdf/JWTMANUALBOOSTCONTROLLERINSTRUCTIONS.PDF is that the way it is supose to be setup? if so how does it work. I thought it worked by blocking the boost pressure to the waste gate actuator until it reached a set PSI then opend and opend the waste gate. I don't understnd what the T is for. some one pelase set me straight.

I believe you boost controller is basically just a needle valve that is a controlled leak. If so it should be plumbed according to that diagram you found. The controller works by leaking off a bit of boost effectively sending the waste gate a lower pressure than the turbo is creating.
The instructions for my ball and spring boost controller say to plug the line where it exits the compressor, to hook the outlet to the line to the waste gate. The inlet to the boost controller it says to hook to a new line that runs to the intake manifold. I don't see why this is any different than splicing it into the waste gate hose. ![]() The ball and spring type is closed until the boost reaches a set amount, then it opens and sends the signal to the waste gate. To double check what kind you have unscrew the knob and see what is inside.

well the knob won't unscrew... and i think its very cheaply made so i don't want to stress it.
i was looking at the Diagram agian and maybe the nipple on the T that i can't blow through it the side that is the Flow Restrector in the diagram.

This is the one I bought.
It came with instructions, works very well and is very simple in design. I plumbed it in line of the waste gate hose. Took about 5 test runs to get it to the right setting I wanted which was about 14psi max. However, do not even try to install one with out a good boost gauge. Also, make sure you orient the flow of the valve correctly or it will not work. Sure made a big difference in fuel economy, smoke and power. Before I installed the controller, I was getting about 6 psi max, way below factory specs. Good luck!

How do you orient a boost controller? I have tried flipping it around and it still does not limit boost. If I'm going 80 and give it some throttle it'll just peg the boost gauge so I am driving it extremely carefully right now

Do you have a ball and spring type or the leak type? Have you tried adjusting the knob?
