My uncle poured oil on a big ol' tree that he wanted dead. Killed it leave-less in less than 2 months.

I was only kidding aboutthe whole oil in the hole thing sorry

Well I plugged the line going to the EGR, right after the switch over valve ont he passenger side and my car smoked like hell!

Also is it possible that the port by-pass valve ont he switch over valve would be blocked from the factory? I have a Air research turbo and there is no vacuum fitting on it that I could find.

If it's got a TrapOx, it should be there. If not, it could be a replacement turbo or its not a CA car.

Well its an 84 300SD California model, according to Mercedes form there VIN history.

It has no trap ox! The 84 California's did not have that from what I read on this forum in other posts.

Thanks for clarifying. Not a tree-hugger but common sense is to simply recycle. Pouring it on a tree to kill it isn't too smart either. Taking a chainsaw to it and burning it in wood stove or selling it for lumber is a better idea. RT

I do strongly believe in recycling used oil. Sometimes over here its difficult to do so because many stations will not accept the oil since there paying to have it taken away. It does make one cringe....the guilty conscience would get me if I did such a thing

not to sound like an idiot, but does my 83 300td have an ARV? and if so how may I disable it? like the only line coming off of the turbo is the wastegate line. Please help.

also, Im no where near a tree hugger....as a matter of fact, I love the smell of diesel and also dump the oil into a hole in the yard...j/k
I had to turn my head sideways to avoid getting the blowby of diet coke from ruining my laptop on the dumping the oil into a hole in the yard. Hell my old man use to oil our gravel drive on a regular basis..that is right after he sprayed our apple trees with DDT...maybe that explains the missing patches of hair on my

pretty good--

Considering I started this thread, I look back everyonce in a while, and see its progress, and I read the line about me using negligence in disposing used oil in a hole in the yard-- I guess that was exaggerated but it does for some sick reason make me laugh--- Seems as my actions and personal items are of great humor to my friends. I keep everything in my car, its going to need struts soon, if I dont take out my Members Only jacket collection, record players, extra bumpers, blankets, salt, 3 bags of solidified concrete, box of tiles, hitch, fuel receipts, and empty bottles of Gold peak iced tea...

Well thats true

So true. I burst out in laughter at some strange things and at the most inopportune time. I love it when a post-it goes up and the hackles rise.

One mishap, my grandmothers' funeral, and her last wish to have her grandsons pallbear her from church to grave. We looked like a bunch monkeys playing with a football. Hell they had to tell us how to handle that damn heavy thing..granny weighed about 320lbs.

They have her funeral at an old church in Alarka, NC. This church must have been built in the early 1900's since the steps leading up to the church were approx 55 degree angle.

On the way up the steps,I'm leading the pack with my ogre cousin and the rest are behind. But being as dumb as we were...we had placed the weakest and youngest cousins in the rear at the feet of the casket not thinking that upon leaving the service...my cousins would take up their same positions as they entered the church but now that means that they would lead on the way out, and with the help of gravity, feel A TON OF WEIGHT . You could just smell that something was going to go wrong.

Just as cousin "Newt" begans to traverse the steps it was apparent that he was slowly and deliberately feeling his way down these 20 steps by feeling each step before committing his weight to the step. Midway down he gets confident and misses a step, loses his balance, falls, releases the box....all in one fell swoop. We managed to slide the box down the rest of the steps.

I once asked Newt if he was more concerned with dropping the box or falling? To which he replied "Neither, I was worried granny would fall outta the box and we wouldnt be able to get her back in.............

Have a Happy New Year

ohh man

Thats pretty ridiculous if i dont say so myself...sounds like something that would happen over here...worst had to be when my uncle Al,who is somewhat insane, decided to trim his tree...Al, being the only white person, living in a gang terrortory neighborhood (should tell you how crazy he was). So he decides to climb the tree, and ascend onto the roof, and cut the branches from there. It was a Sunday morning, so I knew hed be completely hung over and not have a clue as to what was happening.

I get a call on the house phone from one of the neighbors telling me Al was stuck on the roof. Apparently he had cut the branch he used to get up there. I go there, to find him on the roof, now I didnt have a ladder, so I called the FDNY. They came, got him off the roof, and all the branches also.

Saturday morning came around, so the garbagemen were on the way. Al put the branches out, then went out for a bit in his Opel. He comes back to find all the branches still there, so he decides, they are going to take them 1 way or another. Dragging them to the nearest cross street, he blocks it off, babbling like the nut he is and watching the traffic build up. Police come and take him in for obstruction of traffic..He has to lay off the alcohol....
