I was only kidding aboutthe whole oil in the hole thing sorry

Well I plugged the line going to the EGR, right after the switch over valve ont he passenger side and my car smoked like hell!

Also is it possible that the port by-pass valve ont he switch over valve would be blocked from the factory? I have a Air research turbo and there is no vacuum fitting on it that I could find.

Plug it at the EGR and try it again.

If it's got a TrapOx, it should be there. If not, it could be a replacement turbo or its not a CA car.

Well its an 84 300SD California model, according to Mercedes form there VIN history.

It has no trap ox! The 84 California's did not have that from what I read on this forum in other posts.

Thanks for clarifying. Not a tree-hugger but common sense is to simply recycle. Pouring it on a tree to kill it isn't too smart either. Taking a chainsaw to it and burning it in wood stove or selling it for lumber is a better idea. RT

I do strongly believe in recycling used oil. Sometimes over here its difficult to do so because many stations will not accept the oil since there paying to have it taken away. It does make one cringe....the guilty conscience would get me if I did such a thing

not to sound like an idiot, but does my 83 300td have an ARV? and if so how may I disable it? like the only line coming off of the turbo is the wastegate line. Please help.
