Funny thing about those dual fans.

In the 201 body, the 2.5NA gets a single fan, the 2.5T gets the dual fans.
In the 124 body, the 3.0T gets a single fan, the 2.5T gets the dual fans.

Things that make you say: Hmmmm.

The 2.5T I believe was introduced in 87. The 603 turbo was introduced (at least in the US) in 86, and the NA 602 earlier than that. Might be why.

It looks so simple until you see all the little "DIY" lines doesn't it

I've got a nice OM603 with a 17 head, and a 85 380SL with a locked up engine.

I wonder........a 300SLD?

sorry guys, havent been on the diesel forum for long.

Still havent got pics, but that will be solved in an couple of weeks, because im pulling the 603t out of the w201, and put it in my W123 wagon, which i need for my holidays

Already have a om606 in my shop, but without turbo and modified IP, and that one is gonna meet the w201 engine bay.

I am gonna take some pics before I pull the 603t, and post them here!

After my first post in this topic, much happened. I took out the diesel-2.3-16 for some nurburgring laps, and managed a best time of 9.00 EXACT, with ****ty front tires (Yokodrama), no IC, standard engine, standard brakes, Bilstein suspension.

couple months later an old guy smashed my left rear door, while my benz was parked, and i got about 2 grand (euros) from his insurance. meanwhile I put on some good pirellis at the front, and good Bridgestones at the back. Too good.... It took a lot of effort to get the car in a drift, because of the great amount of grip at the back.

one day, tiny bit wet road, lot of throttle to get into a drift, which resulted in a mega drift, almost spun, but then there was the end of the road (steel railing...): front damage, and a lot of rear damage. car was still drivable, but looks like a wreck from the left side.
Gonna fix the car, love it, but is gonna take a while. Then with stronger 606!
But have 2 other projects to finnish (w123 and Renault), before i can begin on my 201.

I made the upper radiator bar (with the hood lock in it) detachable with screws.
With a load leveler, and an electric winch/crane howdoyoucallit, putting in the complete package (603 with trans) is simple.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just installed a 3.0-12v (m103 983) engine in my w201 (originally 2.5-16v) and have a little issue with the drive shaft being to long and the tranny cross member .

reinier, do you have pic of the shortened driveshaft and of the cross member holes you made ?
