What size/type socket do you need for the flywheel bolts?

Thanks,
Don

Also, you don't necessarily have to rent a pilot bearing puller if you don't want to. I removed the bearing using the "bread and punch" trick. Worked great! :D

Anybody have a pic of a clutch alignment tool in action?
Never seen that part of this process. But with that excellent pictorial {now a Wiki} I will certainly tackle it when necessary.

No problem. The tranny is light enough that you can pull it out without a tranny jack if you wanted to. I would estimate its weight at around 50 - 60 pounds.

I just got mine in the mail, the 4 spd trannies weigh right about 70 lbs, just to the shy side. Beats the heck out of trying to pick up a GM TH400 unit...

It's nothing amazing. Stick the clutch tool through the pressure plate and disc, insert the small end into the pilot bearing (with the PP and disc still on it), torque down the pressure plate, remove tool.

I personally never use the plastic junk unless I have no alternative. The best thing to use is an old input shaft out of a scrap tranny.

I use the input shaft from a Volvo tranny, same splines.

Guys, I'm having a tough time getting that top bolt for the slave cylinder out. Very little room for manuever, and I can get a socket to work in there.

Suggestions?

Didnt mean to post this here, it was spoz to go to a case of a broken fly wheel bolt that he got back out, dont know what happened:o:o

There is room to get those bolts out with a socket. Unless you have a 617 then its a little tougher. There is a bracket with one bolt around the other side if your going to "hang the whole thing" when taking the tranny out.

Can someone please tell me how close should the tranny come to the engine compartment when reinstalling it? I have about a good 1 inch space after sliding the tranny in. I know it engages into the clutch because I cannot turn it. However, I'm wondering if somehow it's not getting into the pilot bearing correctly.

Thanks in advance.
