Houston, we have Euros!

I've been waiting a while to install these. I finally did it today. They've been sitting in a box for almost a month. I've always been fond of the "roundies", though technically, a Euro 300D from 1982 would not have them from the factory. They've got 55/60 H4s, and 55W H3 Yellowstars by Hella. I'll wire up the city lights later. They're also vacuum adjustable, I have the vacuum feature fully set up, ran the vacuum lines into the cabin and to the adjustment switch. I'll post more pics later.

Very nice, Congratulations

IMO, thats the biggest "bang for the buck" up grade you can do to a 123.

I think the most distinctive aspect of W123's are the round "bug-like" headlights.
So, I believe if you want Euro's, the round is the best way to go, so nice job. Now, having said that, I went and looked at your car in your gallery, and I must say I think it looks better with the US spec. lights. But I bet you sure can see better at night now.......

**edit**
and just to clarify my insignificant opinion, I think W116's and W126's look better with the rectangular Euros than the stock headlight assy's.........

How long did the install take you? I got a set of those that need to be cleaned and installed in my closet.

That's the one mod (round euros) I would like to add to my 240D. I think it keeps the unique look of the 123. Nice job. Whoever said the 116 is better with the rectangle euros is spot on in my opinion.

Those are the "round" euros, no vacuum adjustment, but they are just as bright, IMO, I have both and the round ones are just a good.

gosh, i thought for a minute that you found a stash of euro 300D's with 5 speed manuals in them. i would have driven straight to houston and rented a huge flatbed to haul 2 of them back with me.

then i awoke and was happy to see your euro lights, congrats.

If you do just the lights by themselves, it'll probably take you 30-45 mins, or less. If you put in everything, including the switch, vacuum lines, etc... Look to spend about 2 hrs.

To clarify, my "roundies" do indeed have vacuum adjustment, it's fun to watch that light beam go up and down against a wall.

First, you need to make sure you have vacuum elements in your lamps, you'll need to open them up and take a look. They'll be black, disc shaped with a rod pertruding from them, which is attached to the reflector. If you have that, you'll need 5 meters of hard vacuum tubing, get a few inches of the rubber tubing too, and two 3 way connectors. Check the back of the switch and make sure you have the blue and black check valve. I used this page to guide me.

All the pics aren't there, but it's a good general source to get your bearings. I tee'd into the solid brown line behind the instrument cluster instead of the economy gauge like he did because, well, diesels don't have economy gauges!
