![]() ![]() ![]() ya left out the 50 less 10% (5) = 45... I find (and I bet pretty much all us base 10 fellers do as well) it pretty simple to double a number and remove 10% it's that adding 32 that will wrinkle my shorts... lets see 45 55 65 75 76 77... ok 25°C = 77°F um Right?

The only way I know is to change it in your head. Its really very simple. Multiply the Celius reading by 1.8 and add 32. If the celius reading is 80, multiplying 80 by 1.8 gives you 144, added to 32, gives you a "F-temp" of 174 degrees F.
Peace. |

Why not just learn Celsius and plan on going to Europe for vacation?
zill it's -40 that matches, there are two formulas for converting one adds 32 the other 40 (or subtracts)

Come on it's easy...
2+2=5 for extremely large values of 2 Algebraically: 5=2+2 when 2>2 |

I've got a fellow engineer here at work that refers to the metric system as "drug units". You've never heard of anyone getting busted for 2 pounds of cocaine have you!

naw, it's like I said, the double subtract part is easy, it's the 32 addition part that gets us mere mortal base tenners.

That reminds me, I need to find a metric tire gauge for my Mercedes. I know that it will ride better if I get those PSI's out of my tires. And the parts stores need to stock oil in liter bottles for European cars. Pouring a quart of oil into a 617 just isn't right.
