I was just looking at the DIY repair section, and there was one about replacing the horsehair with those foam noodles for pools, it was labled:

W123 seat - replaced horsehair with noodles

Can I follow that same procedure with my W126 car as well? Or is the procedure different?

Yes you can. But if you remove the horsehair, you should replace it with some kind of foam or something. The pool noodles are more for the damaged, sagging seat springs.

I have a nice horsehair pad that came out of a W126 with leather seats. It was on a passenger seat spring box that I bought, but would not work with my MB Tex seat cover.

Its the springs that are giving me the problems. One side is high up, the other is sagging to the side pretty bad. Feels like im going to fall into the door.

After doing some more research, it looks like several people have done the 126 noodle seats without removing the seat assembly. However I am not clear as to how to remove the MB TEX - any pointers would be appreciated!

Start at the rear of the seat at the door side of seat. Using a needle nose pliers pull the fabric gusset down from it's slot. Once you get started you work your way around and in between the console. Re-assembly is reverse start in between console and seat work back towards door. I don't remove the seats anymore but kneeling on the seat helps eliminate tension.

You should be able to pick up a passenger seat for a reasonable price from a wrecker. The passenger's seats are used much less so the spring boxes are usually in excellent shape. The horsehair pad goes hard with age and eventually disintegrate so a used one may not be worth using.

Springs can be replaced with seat in place by bending locking tabs. A second set of coil springs fit in space provided for further improvement. They may have been a option. Have seen foam placed between pad and springs with good results. A new pad is better.

In my opinion, the noodle repair is not worth doing. I did it on my 85TD. It stiffened up the seat. Around town it was not too bad, but I drove from Denver to LA and it was hell. Seat was way too hard and gave me a serious backache. Took out the noodles when I got to LA.
Do the spring repair, there, are almost certainly broken springs under there.

One of the advantages of the 126 is that the passenger and driver's seats are identical. Find a good passenger seat from a junkyard 126. You cna always swap yopur cover onto the "new" seat if the "new" one doesn't match. MB Tex abd Leather are different, so you need to pay attention to that.
I don't know where you are located, ( put it in your profile), but in the Balto, MD area there are a series of U Pull it yard. Price lisy is published so you know the price beforehand. Bucket seat with motors is about $55, or so.

Ok so im about to start on the seats - I see that some people have put two noodles per set, and some who put two noodles and another half on each side for support. What seems to be the most comfortable?
