Yes, since it's an R4, I personally would not try resealing it.

Yes, they have used several different line connections throughout the run of the R4's, but remember, the manifold is simply flat around the tubes. Whatever connection is on the new compressor, seals should come with it that will work, just don't try to use the wrong seals.

Get a new compressor (if thats the problem)

To fix the old one you have to discharge or evacuate the refrigirant anyway. My Bro who works on a/c systems advised me one time not to bother fixing o-ring. The GM R compressors are not that expensive. And remember, the orig compressor is more than 20 yrs old.

JM.02, if you are pulling out the compressor, go back with R 12. especially in TX HOT HOT HOT! get either R12, or stay with 134a and replace the condenser. lucky me, I still have around 50LBs of R12... most of the oil is in the compressor and the reciever. if you change both of them, you will be pulling out most of the oil. while the system is open, flush some nitrogen through the lines, and it will blow the remainder of the oil out. then flush with a SMALL amount of refergerant, and evacuate. charge up with the correct amount of mineral oil and freon and go!~

hmmmm....well, if I have to take it off, I may as well buy a new (reman) and replace it...then maybe rebuild this one for later....

Kevin,
If you want to come over we can get the sniffer to confirm where the leak is.

Appreciate your offer to help and I may take you up on it.;...or I may just replace it and be done with it.....
