I've mentioned this previously in another thread.

It seems Marvel Mystery Oil run at full concentration will produce the same cleansing effect of Diesel Purge. Plus, it is far cheaper at 3.xx per qt.

Am I the only one who has tried this?

You've run mystery oil at full concentration? Can you do that? I'd be willing to try it....

Would pulling the injectors and letting them sit overnight in Kerosene, gas or MMO help? I think I might try this before poptesting and nozzles.

Interesting........I have always used Marvel Mystery Oil as a diesel and gasoline additive on my cars but never thought to try it as a purge.
Worth a try!

Only way to know is to do a before and after test. SOTP dyno is not the best.

I ran a 32oz bottle through the system, the fuel in the bottle that was left over was quite dirty! It runs VERY well on that stuff, rev'ing it up produced quite a bit of smoke for a while, then it cleared up. I then changed the ancient filters, had to crank it to prime it, since my primer pump squirted fuel all over the ground...looks like thats my next repair. But it runs AWESOME now. Big difference in smoke and power. Way less smoke, way more power, it throws me back into my seat again on take off! I am very pleased with the results! Now I have to wait a day though, I had to apply sealer around the stupid bolt that holds the secondary filter on, because mine oozes fuel without it.

On a sad note, my Kenwood radio died. Its the type with the revolving faceplate, it failed. siiiigh.

What does DP do? Not much IMHO. But others seem to have gotten good results.

so all you did was dump a whole 32oz bottle of MMO in the fuel tank, and ran it?

I just replaced my nozzles with Bosio nozzles from Diesel Giant. Here are a couple of observations:

1) One of the heat-shields had a *thick* layer of carbon that was blocking 90% of the hole. It was so tough that I had to chip it out with a screwdriver. DP wouldn't touch something like that.

2) The old nozzles were badly carbonized. I have been soaking them in Gunk carb dip for the last 8 hours, and just checked on them - it hasn't even touched the carbon. It won't even scrape off with a screwdriver yet.

3) The new nozzles and heatshields, combined with a thorough cleaning of the injector bodies, has completely fixed rough idle, hard-starts, and start/idle smoke. The car runs so smooth now that I can't even believe an hour of work made such a dramatic difference.

In my opinion, I woudn't waste time with additives and cleaners. As long as you're getting dirty, just go ahead and clean the parts. BTW, I did run DP through the system when I first got the car. Lots of smoke and black liquid, but no long-term change. YMMV, I guess...
