I've mentioned this previously in another thread.
It seems Marvel Mystery Oil run at full concentration will produce the same cleansing effect of Diesel Purge. Plus, it is far cheaper at 3.xx per qt. Am I the only one who has tried this? |

You've run mystery oil at full concentration? Can you do that? I'd be willing to try it....

Would pulling the injectors and letting them sit overnight in Kerosene, gas or MMO help? I think I might try this before poptesting and nozzles.

Interesting........I have always used Marvel Mystery Oil as a diesel and gasoline additive on my cars but never thought to try it as a purge.
Worth a try!

I ran a 32oz bottle through the system, the fuel in the bottle that was left over was quite dirty!
It runs VERY well on that stuff, rev'ing it up produced quite a bit of smoke for a while, then it cleared up. I then changed the ancient filters, had to crank it to prime it, since my primer pump squirted fuel all over the ground...looks like thats my next repair. But it runs AWESOME now. Big difference in smoke and power. Way less smoke, way more power, it throws me back into my seat again on take off! I am very pleased with the results! Now I have to wait a day though, I had to apply sealer around the stupid bolt that holds the secondary filter on, because mine oozes fuel without it. On a sad note, my Kenwood radio died. Its the type with the revolving faceplate, it failed. siiiigh.

What does DP do? Not much IMHO. But others seem to have gotten good results.

I don't know if it was the MMO I ran through, or the new fuel filters, perhaps both, but my W126 surely has more force traveling through the drive line now than it did before.
And I am very pleased. $3.49 purge, can't beat that!Maybe next time I'll brew up a concoction of MMO, Redline Catalyst, and DieselKleen and mix them all together and run it on that. Would be interesting to see what happened.

Ran a couple cans of DP through my 602 while trying to diagnose my sluggishness problem. Gave me a slight bit more power, barely noticeable. It did quiet the engine down quite a bit...had a little bit of nailing that went away. Nice and regular sewing-machine quality clack coming out of my 602 now
.I put a jar under the hood and ran some "fuel injection hose" from Shucks that happened to be the perfect diameter. Cheap too. Secured the jar with tape so it wouldn't fall over while driving around. Drove around the neighborhood flooring it to redline in first the whole time. Ran through two cans.

I want to do a diesel purge on my 240D before I head off to Florida next week.
I'll be traveling from western New York through the mountains of Pa ,Wv and Va. so I'll need every bit of extra power I can get ( at least its the man 4 spd). I would like to take my 300D, but have not completed my wvo conversion. I've read about doing a purge with Sea Foam and canola oil, Marvel Mystery Oil, my thought was to due a purge using Sea Foam and biodiesel or MMO and bio. I would use DP if I could get it locally but no time to order it in 3 days. I will be running 100% bio with the trunk packed with cubies of bio to offset the amount of petro diesel that I would have to buy . Can anybody along this route give me some info on where I can buy bio on the way down or on the return trip? thanks in advance mark

No, I took a bottle, disconnected the lines from the tank, filled the bottle with 32oz of MMO, stuck the lines into the bottle (both return and intake) and ran it till it was almost out. Worked very well.

I just replaced my nozzles with Bosio nozzles from Diesel Giant. Here are a couple of observations:
1) One of the heat-shields had a *thick* layer of carbon that was blocking 90% of the hole. It was so tough that I had to chip it out with a screwdriver. DP wouldn't touch something like that. 2) The old nozzles were badly carbonized. I have been soaking them in Gunk carb dip for the last 8 hours, and just checked on them - it hasn't even touched the carbon. It won't even scrape off with a screwdriver yet. 3) The new nozzles and heatshields, combined with a thorough cleaning of the injector bodies, has completely fixed rough idle, hard-starts, and start/idle smoke. The car runs so smooth now that I can't even believe an hour of work made such a dramatic difference. In my opinion, I woudn't waste time with additives and cleaners. As long as you're getting dirty, just go ahead and clean the parts. BTW, I did run DP through the system when I first got the car. Lots of smoke and black liquid, but no long-term change. YMMV, I guess...
